“Was not their mistake once more bred of the life of slavery that they had been living?—a life which was always looking upon everything, except mankind, animate and inanimate—‘nature,’ as people used to call it—as one thing, and mankind as another, it was natural to people thinking in this way, that they should try to make ‘nature’ their slave, since they thought ‘nature’ was something outside them” — William Morris

Letters of Recommendation

I'm spending today making sure that all my letters of recommendation are done. It's a hard job, actually. In the USA your letter has to reach Austenian levels of discursive display, and the one page job you get in the UK won't do the trick. It's nice to support my students. If you can't write an amazing letter, don't write one at all, is what I say.

By the way, you'll see that all the job advice is now aggregated on the “Jobs” page: click the tab above.
